Find great keywords with GSC...
The Google Search Console can reveal low competition keywords that will get you traffic, even if you've got a brand new website.
As you already know, most keyword competition tools aren't very accurate...
They don't predict keyword difficulty well because they usually give too much value to external backlinks and/or domain authority.
And most of them don't actually evaluate your website...
Everyone gets the same numbers.
But the method below uses the actual Google algorithm to reveal keywords your website can rank for quickly.
Let's dive in...
Step 1: Setup a free Google Search Console account if you don't already have one.
Step 2: Pick a keyword to test.
Google search suggestions are a great place to start...
Imagine your Ideal Customers...
What problems do they have?
What can you help them solve?
Step 3: Create a quick "placeholder page" on your site.
Just share a few tips related to the keyword you picked.
You should be able to write this in 10-15 minutes max.
(Tip: You can use Speechnotes to convert your speech to text.)
Use the keyword in the title and text.
Step 4: Publish the content.
You can manually submit your sitemap to index the page faster.
Google will index the page and start showing it in the search results for relevant keywords.
Step 5: Login to Google Search Console and click on Performance.
It may take up to 24 hours to see your new keywords in GSC.
Step 6: Reveal the keywords your placeholder page is ranked for.
You can also see how many impressions you're getting.
And you can see your current ranking position.
These are low competition terms because your tiny placeholder page wasn't even optimized for these keywords you're ranking for.
Look over these keywords and group the most relevant ones.
Now you just need to update the placeholder page with better content that gives the user a great experience and includes the group of keywords you picked.
Don't forget to add some internal links from existing pages on your site to your new page.
Just use the keywords from the Google Search Console as your anchor text.
That's usually all you'll need to do.
And you can get traffic very quickly from these keywords.
In some cases, you'll even rank in the Top 10 from the original placeholder page...
The best part...
You're using real keywords and real Google results.
This works especially well for new trending keywords...
As the trend grows, your traffic grows.
I just recorded a video that shows one of our placeholder pages that ranks for a group of trending keywords...
This one placeholder page is already revealing new low competition trending keywords with traffic.
