Find trending keywords with Google Trends...
Back when I was in college, I took a sailing course.
On Friday afternoons, we'd all pack into a station wagon and drive about 45 minutes to a secluded beach.
We'd split up into teams and race each other in Catamarans.
One thing I learned pretty quickly...
It's a whole lot easier to sail with the wind at your back.
If you ever want a good laugh, just watch rookies attempt to sail into the wind.
That reminds me of something Richard Koch said in this book.
(Note: Richard wrote "The 80/20 Principle", has a net worth of $400 million, and escaped 80-hour workweeks with the Star Principle.)
Try this experiment:
Imagine you're trying to pick a company to invest in...
In the first company, people dash around. Papers fly. Work moves fast.
You sense excitement.
It's intense.
Employees hustle.
Picture that for a second...
Got it?
Ok, great...
In the second company, people sit at tidy desks. Work moves slow.
You sense routine.
It's calm.
Employees function.
Think about the differences...
Now, which company would you invest your money in?
Which company is going to give you the biggest ROI?
Think about that for a second.
Got your answer?
Most people pick the first one...
They believe, "It's all about the hustle".
They're getting it done, the energy is high, and profits are pouring in.
Is that the one you picked?
Surprisingly, Richard Koch has made millions investing in the second company...
The calm one.
Why?
Richard has learned from experience that if a stressful environment is required to make a profit today, a stressful environment is required to make a profit tomorrow.
Like they say down south: "How you get 'em is how you keep 'em."
And Richard also knows, "Action drives out thought."
Stressed employees don't have time to think and create breakthrough ideas.
Now, don't misunderstand...
Working hard is a good thing.
Sometimes you have to hustle to get it done and reach the finish line.
He's not advocating laziness.
But there's a big difference between an occasional hustle and constant drama.
You see, Richard knows why the second company is doing so well:
They're leaders in a growing market.
The market trend is bringing them consistent new growth without all the drama.
This is down wind sailing.
The days we sailed with the wind at our backs were fun...
The days we fought for every inch...wind and saltwater blowing in our faces...were no fun at all.
Getting stuck in dying trend is like sailing into a hurricane.
Everyday feels like you're trying to avoid a shipwreck.
The good news...
